The first section of the climb takes you through the beautiful rainforest zone. The trail winds through ancient trees covered with moss, colorful plants, and tropical vegetation. Keep your eyes open for monkeys and various bird species that call this forest home.
As you climb higher, the forest gradually becomes thinner, revealing your first views of Kilimanjaro’s impressive landscape.

The trail passes through a dramatic alpine desert landscape with incredible volcanic formations and panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s southern glaciers.
